The term electrolysis is used to describe the modalities (methods) of permanent hair removal. The three methods used today; Galvanic, Thermolysis & the Blend. Depending on your individual circumstance(s), your Electrologist will determine which method is best for you.   

Using state-of-the-art technology, all treatments involve the usage of a very fine, sterile, disposable needle which is inserted into the hair follicle, down to the papilla (the area that nourishes the hair).  A very low electrolytic current is gently applied to the base of the hair follicle destroying the hair growth cells.  This causes the regeneration ability of the hair follicle to cease,  therefore eliminating further hair growth permanently.

Many have compared laser to electrolysis.  This is like comparing apples to oranges.  Electrolysis is permanent hair removal & laser assisted hair removal is not.

Laser assisted hair removal methods have not shown to remove hair permanently; therefore, the FDA has denied the laser to promote permanent hair removal.  The FDA has approved some laser devices for permanent hair reduction.  This means that some lasers have shown to either slow down hair growth or reduce hair growth, but they have not shown to permanently remove hair.  Additionally, long-term safety of the patient’s skin and health has not yet been evaluated.

Out of all the hair removal methods that exist today, including the laser, electrolysis is the ONLY clinically proven, FDA approved method available for permanent hair removal. 

Electrolysis has been clinically proven and shown to be safe & effective in permanent hair removal for over 135 years. 

When electrolysis is performed by a skilled Electrologist you do not feel the insertions, only the minimal current.  Our advanced computerized equipment uses variable modulated currents for a more comfortable treatment.  In fact, most people report tweezing, waxing, laser and other temporary methods to be more uncomfortable than electrolysis treatments.

Some of the other most common methods of temporary hair removal are tweezing, waxing, threading, sugaring and chemical depilatories. Tweezing, waxing and threading can actually aggravate the skin condition you are trying to improve.  They often irritate the skin; causing ingrown hairs, pimples or even pustules… spoiling what could have been smooth and attractive skin. Sugaring, though more gentle than traditional waxing, can still cause irritation and you will find that you have to grow your hair out for many days prior to being able to successfully use this temporary method.  Chemical depilatories are very harsh and irritating to the skin on many people.  These chemicals can also cause unsightly ingrown hairs and many report that the treated hair seems to appear thicker & coarser when it grows back in.  In conclusion, these are still only temporary fixes.

The time required for complete removal depends on the type of hair, extent of growth, previous temporary hair removal methods and various other factors which may be causing unwanted hair growth.  Since your hair grows in different cycles, you may only have a small percentage of unwanted hairs showing.  For the best results it will take a series of treatments to remove ALL of your unwanted hair safely and effectively.  The important thing to remember is this… regardless of the cause of your unwanted hair growth it can be permanently removed through electrolysis.
